ARCHITECTURE

You will work directly with the same Principal or Senior Staff member throughout the design and construction of your project.

General contractors that work on our projects often say our construction documents are thorough, well detailed, and provide complete information. Another attribute which increases our value to you by minimizing issues during construction that often result in added costs.

Our focus is on your organization and your needs, not on our portfolio or what we want to do.

How do I get membership support and keep them informed throughout the duration of the project?

A successful project hinges on the acceptance and support of your membership. With an intentional strategy and through various means, we can educate and engage Club members on planned improvements to their facilities. Promoting the message throughout the life of a project can have great appeal to prospective members. Constant contact & transparency will win the day.

MEMBERSHIP messaging & COMMUNICATIONS

Have you outgrown your current facility, or do you see benefits in renovating existing spaces to recapture the attention of your members?

As your architect, we will assist you on the journey to realize and achieve your goals.

What do I present to the membership to get them excited while giving them an opportunity to become involved in the process?

Now is when we get the members excited about what's being planned. To do this, we prepare presentation drawings depicting the overall master plan along with specific elements of the planned project. In coordination with you, we present the vision to the Board of Directors, and with their approval, it's opened to the membership. A successful forum for this is through a series of town hall meetings.

My members are going to the restaurant down the street which has a great vibe, how can we compete with that?

Memorable spaces should embody the culture of the club and be authentic to the people who come to enjoy them. A well-branded Tavern or Dining Room for instance can add character and life to a place. Naming and presenting a cohesive narrative through a collection of materials and details can invigorate and create energy, allowing your spaces to come alive and inspire.

BRANDING

Are you wondering if the project can be done in your window of time, or do you have questions about fundraising capital?

Specializing in private clubs, we have the knowledge to develop and maintain the project budget and schedule to ensure your project is a success. We actively track both the schedule and budget as they are incorporated into the design and construction process. We coordinate the collective efforts to run parallel with your anticipated move-in date.

PROJECT BUDGETING & SCHEDULING

While LEED standards have provided a baseline for sustainable design during the past decade, we approach every project with this philosophy in mind. Creating healthy, safe, and sustainable learning environments is woven into our everyday practice.

LEED & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

I love the exterior design of the building, but what does it look like on the inside?

Have you considered the life cycle costs of your facility relative to sustainability, annual maintenance costs, and operating budgets?

We believe there is a distinction between what is built into a building, and the finishes that are applied to or set in a space. Based on this, we develop the design concepts for interior spaces of the building. We design display cases, wall paneling, bars, millwork, and other featured elements within the project. Fixture, finish, and accessory selections are then made by an interior decorator.

INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE

Independent of the scope of a physical design, it is our commitment to listen, collaborate, and apply our expertise to stimulate creative thinking and ultimately successful design solutions. Our success is driven by a true curiosity to understand your physical, financial, and cultural drivers, with the overriding objective to create solutions which best serve your mission.

Do your furnishings allow for flexibility in your spaces to create alternative learning environments?

Today's educational environments are a synergy of space and function. Furniture, furnishing selection, and design are integral to the flexibility and mobility required for today's academic methodologies.

FURNITURE DESIGN & PROCUREMENT

Would you like to captivate the imagination and attention of your students?

Color, texture, light, and form play an integral role in how a space is perceived. The interior design approach to an educational environment can impact attentiveness, comfort level, and focus.

INTERIOR DESIGN & SPACE PLANNING

The built environment in which learning occurs has great potential to influence how a program approaches education, character development, and growth of the mind, spirit, and soul.

While LEED standards have provided a baseline for sustainable design during the past decade, we approach every project with this philosophy in mind. Creating healthy, safe and sustainable learning environments is woven into our everyday practice.

What is it that makes your program unique, and how will your school stand out from your competition?

The evolving academic methodologies and technology impact how we approach educational spatial design. It is our commitment to listen, collaborate, and apply our expertise to stimulate creative thinking and ultimately successful design solutions. Now that I have a general direction for the design and a defined scope of work, how much will it cost?

We can refine the chosen design solution from the Charrette and utilize written narratives to produce a design brief to present to a local general contractor. This can include prioritization, phasing and delivery recommendations. From this a general contractor can prepare a broad stroke budget for the project.

ROUGH ORDER OF MAGNITUDE COST ESTIMATE

How can I see multiple design solutions and offer real-time input in a short amount of time?

Our project design team visits your club or site and conducts an intensive design session. Being on site allows us the ability to examine various improvement solutions in rough sketch form. Taking place over several days, we present concept progress sketches to Club leadership & committees for review and comment.

How do I get an objective view of our current programs & facilities to inform the future needs of my membership & club?

This is where we get to know you and your club by visiting the club and becoming familiar with your programs & facilities. We have interviews with appropriate committees & club personnel, and review any recent member survey results. We find valuable insights come from obtaining member & staff input by conducting focus groups.

what do you need help with?

Through the years, we have noticed design trends that transcends locale. Members and staff alike all desire the humane values of belonging, acceptance, feeling a sense of accomplishment, and a nurturing of family and the soul. Being focused on clubhouse architecture empowers us to effectively address these human desires.

Do visitors to your campus often get lost? Would you like to honor your donors, or perhaps enhance your brand?

Campus graphic design should not only be a functional means of way-finding, it should also be an opportunity to enhance the identity and brand of your campus and program. We recognize multiple levels of signage relative to identification and way-finding including monument signage, building and facility signage, vehicular and pedestrian way-finding, and donor graphics.

Are you wondering if the project can be done in your window of time, or do you have questions about fundraising efforts?

Are you thinking about purchasing property in order to expand your school's programming but don't know where to start?

Specializing in private education, we have the knowledge to develop and maintain the project budget and schedule to ensure your project is a success. We actively track both the schedule and budget, incorporating the design and construction process, as well as fundraising efforts. We coordinate the collective efforts to run parallel with your anticipated move-in date.

Has your campus grown and become disjointed in materials & building systems to the point you have lost your central identity?

Through the development of a “campus standards” document, your campus will have guidelines for all decision-makers to follow to ensure a cohesive campus context and a clear campus identity is maintained. This will cover areas such as Site & Grounds, Campus Design, and Building Design standards.

campus standards documentation

It is important to ensure not only short-term approval is fulfilled, but the long-term vision and growth potential for the school is achievable. We will take the lead and guide you through this process, facilitating submittals, public meetings, and hearings relative to the zoning process. We can even negotiate the conditions and requests of neighboring property owners as well.

zoning approval process

We can provide guidance relative to land acquisition for the expansion of a current campus or the development of a new program to ensure due diligence has been achieved. In consideration of a land purchase, we analyze future program development, zoning, utilities, vehicular accessibility, storm water management requirements, and overall capacity of the proposed property.

site FEASIBILITY & acquistion analysis

Does your project have potential challenges with local governmental jurisdictions, or adjacent land owners?

What are the future hopes and dreams for your school program?

We challenge our clients to take a holistic approach and initially focus at the macro-scale identifying the long-term vision for the program. This approach will ensure the maximum capacity for the site is identified and all long-term program needs and future expansion goals can be achieved.

what do you need help with?

While a “master plan” often defines planning relative to efficient land use, zoning and programmatic parameters,
a “campus plan” defines a sense of place.

A campus is an entity unto itself and should be an innovative and unique learning environment reflecting the prestige, heritage, mission, and spirituality of your institution.
